Property support with care and discretion
Managing a property after a bereavement can involve many separate decisions. Executors may need to secure an empty home, identify items to retain, arrange contractors and prepare for sale, sometimes from another part of the country or overseas. We help organise the property-related work and keep everyone informed.
Services can be arranged individually or together. No property is cleared, works instructed or possessions disposed of without the appropriate written authorisation.

A formal retrospective date-of-death valuation, where required for tax or estate purposes, should be carried out by a suitably qualified valuer.

Clarity at every stage
We provide a clear scope of work and confirm charges before proceeding. Clearance, cleaning, specialist valuations, repairs and other contractor costs are quoted according to the property's needs. Where Hermens coordinates third-party work, any coordination fee will be identified separately.
Executors can request an individual service without committing to instructing Hermens to sell the property. We do not recommend creating a new tenancy simply to generate income when the estate intends to sell.
Hermens offers property-related support, not probate legal services or estate administration. Probate applications, legal advice, inheritance tax advice and other reserved legal work should be handled by appropriately authorised professionals.
Where specialist valuations, hazardous-waste disposal or other regulated services are required, we can help arrange a suitable independent provider, subject to agreed terms.
